The Level 2 qualification is based on the National Occupational Standards (NOS); the highest authority for professional standards in the UK that people are expected to achieve in their work, and the knowledge and skills they need to perform their jobs effectively and safely.
The standards provide an accurate and detailed definition of what candidates must know, understand and be able to do.
The qualification will enable those working in this sector to develop the knowledge and skills required to demonstrate competence, and importantly compliance, in their job role.
On June 14, 2017, a fire broke out in Grenfell Tower, London, resulting in the tragic death of 72 people. In the immediate aftermath, the UK Government commissioned Dame Judith Hackitt MBE to undertake an independent review of building regulations and fire safety to develop recommendations to prevent a similar tragedy from happening again.
In the coming years it will become a legal requirement to prove your competency and compliance while in your place of work. You will have to demonstrate that you are working to the National Occupational Standards of your occupation. Per the recent statement from Construction Leadership Council, achieving your Level 2 qualification will be the minimum standard for skilled occupations.
Prove you are competent by demonstrating:
1. You can perform all the specified tasks consistently to the required standard
2. You understand why you are doing things
3. You can apply the required skills in different ways
