We are proud to announce that, this past weekend, Overclean Ltd became the first company in the UK whose technicians achieved recognised units in Ventilation Hygiene, in partnership with Paddeco Ltd.

Jonathan Brennan, Chairman of the NAADUK says “I am delighted that one of our members, Overclean Ltd, has achieved the National Occupational Standard for the first group of air duct technicians”.

National Occupational Standards (NOS) are statements of the skills, knowledge and understanding, needed for effective performance in a job role and are expressed as outcomes of competent performance.

In other words, they define good practice in the performance of individuals in the workplace based on the functions they perform; they can be regarded as the benchmark of competence required in the sector and form the key component of many qualifications. NOS are public documents and can be of immense value to individuals, employers and education and training providers. They specify the standards of performance that people are expected to achieve in their work, and the knowledge and skills they need to perform effectively.

The development of any National Occupational Standard goes through a rigorous research, development, consultation and a refinement process that is agreed by an industry-led steering group and Government office in all four nations across the UK.

Following the success of this initial pilot scheme, Paddeco will now be offering this new Ventilation Hygiene course as part of its industry-leading course offering, all of which is underpinned by the National Occupational Standards.

Inspection, cleaning, and maintenance of ductwork has become an important part of building facility requirements to meet the growing need for better indoor air quality and building energy efficiencies.  Insurance companies are aware of the essential requirement to undertake cleaning ventilation systems to prevent the build-up of grease and dust in ducts to prevent fires.

We are extremely excited to be the first to offer this course across the UK, to help ensure the industry’s technicians are assessed and audited, and are working to the highest levels of competence and compliance.
